DeconGel® 1120/1121 - Spray
DeconGel for Chemical and Radioactive Clean-Up (for use with hand-held or industrial airless sprayers – no dilution required)
Designed for hand-held power painters, DeconGel 1120 and 1121 (industrial airless sprayers) are the perfect solution for decontamination of radioisotopes as well as particulates, heavy metals, water-soluble and insoluble organic compounds, including tritiated compounds.
Blue Decongel is so easy to use, there is no need for mixing or diluting the product. Because there is virtually no odor or fumes, and depending upon what is being picked up, users may not need to wear respirators or gloves while handling DeconGel. CBI Polymers always recommends that users follow appropriate safety procedures in accordance with appropriate rules, regulations or policies for their area or industry.
When using DeconGel 1120 Spray, a light-duty, hand-held power sprayer with at least 2600 psi, and a wide shot tip is recommended. DeconGel can easily and quickly be applied to horizontal and vertical surfaces, to instantly control contamination. The DeconGel traps contaminants into the quick-dry, peelable gel, for 100 percent decontamination, with easy disposal.
Choosing DeconGel 1121 Spray requires an industrial electric airless sprayer with capabilities of 0.95 gallons per minute (gpm) or faster and a spray tip of 0.019 inches.
DeconGel 1121 Spray is ONLY recommended for non-porous (1 to 2 coats) or semi-porous materials (3 to 4 coats) and drying time will vary due to air temperature, humidity and thickness of applied coats of DeconGel 1121. Use of supplemental heat or air circulation can accelerate drying time.

Application Procedure
For 1120:
We recommend:
Please note that DeconGel™ 1120 is ONLY recommended for non-porous (1 – 2 coats) or semi porous materials (3 – 4 coats) with about 2 hours between coats. Of course the # of coats will need to be individually determined for each substrate. A coat is defined as the wet film thickness that results in a small amount of sag visible after a few minutes.
For 1121:
We recommend:
An industrial electric airless sprayer with capabilities of 0.95 gallons per minute or faster and - A spray tip of with orifice of 0.019 inches
Please note that DeconGelTM 1120 is ONLY recommended for non-porous (1 – 2 coats) or semi porous materials (3-4 coats) with about 2 hours between coats. Coating thickness required for good peel characteristics varies with substrate and generally increases with substrate porosity. Dry time increases with wet film thickness and can vary. A coat is defined as the wet film thickness that results in a small amount of sag visible after a few minutes.
DO NOT DILUTE DECONGEL for sprayers.
Drying Time
Drying time depends on a combination of the ambient humidity, temperature, type of substrate and applied wet film thickness. This can take from as little time as an hour for thin coats in a dry environment with plenty of airflow, to overnight or longer if thicker coats are applied in humid environments. Dry times exceeding 24 hours may be required for good peel performance on bare concrete, wood and other highly porous substrates. Applying supplemental heat can speed up the drying time.
It is recommended that first time customers of DeconGelTM learn how long the product will take to dry in their own environment and preferred thickness by first testing a small application on the same type of substrate that will be decontaminated.
- Coating can be used straight from the container without any stirring
- Simply apply, allow to dry, peel, and dispose according to applicable local, state and federal regulations.
Recommended Storage Conditions
Store DeconGelTM 1120/1121 within a temperature range of 40° to 90° F (4° to 32° C). If frozen, DeconGelTM 1120/1121 can be allowed to warm to room temperature and then used as normal.
